Biography

Dr. Vardeny is an Associate Professor of Pharmacy and Medicine at the University of Wisconsin. She obtained her Pharm.D. degree from the University of Utah, and subsequently completed an Ambulatory Care Residency and a Fellowship in Experimental Cardiovascular Pharmacotherapy at the University of Utah. As part of the KL2 program through the University of Wisconsin’s Institute for Clinical and Translational Research, she earned a Master’s degree in Clinical Investigation. Her research focuses on delineating beta adrenergic mechanisms contributing to glucose abnormalities and immune dysfunction in patients with cardiac disorders. Her practice site is at the Madison VA Medical Center Advanced Heart Disease clinic, where she sees patients with heart failure for medication management. Dr. Vardeny is Chair of the American College of Clinical Pharmacy Cardiology Practice and Research Network and serves on the Atherosclerosis Risk in Communities (ARIC) study Heart Failure Research Committee.

Metabolic effects of cardiovascular medications, Pharmcogenetics of cardiovascular medications, Heart failure, Insulin resistance, Immune responses in heart failure.
