He received his PhD in 1986 in Biochemistry and Molecular Biology from the Louis Pasteur University, Strasbourg, France. He performed his postdoctoral research at the Center for Environmental Health Sciences, Massachusetts Institute of Technology, Cambridge, MA, before joining the University of Pittsburgh in 1991. His research interests are to understand the molecular mechanisms of mutagenesis and carcinogenesis of environmental chemicals by using human cells and tissues and animal models.
