Biography

Roberto Guzman de Villoria is currently a Post-doctoral Associate in the group of Prof. B.L. Wardle in the Department of Aeronautics and Astronautics at MIT. Roberto received his M.Sc. in Physics in 2000 and his M.Sc. in Materials Engineer in 2003 from Salamanca University. He holds his Ph.D. (2007) from Zaragoza University. His PhD. Thesis is entitled “Optimization of Mechanical and Electrical Properties of Carbon Nanofiber/Epoxy Nanocomposites”. As a graduate student in the lab of Prof. A. Miravete, he had been working on several projects with composites and nanocomposites companies, applying carbon nanotubes and nanofibers to several materials. He is a member of MIT’s Nano-Engineered Composite aerospace STructures (NECST) Consortium. Since 2008, Roberto is appointed expert of the Spanish National Agency for Evaluation and Prospective. Roberto has published over 40 journals and conference proceedings and he has applied for 2 international patents in the area of nanocomposites. He enjoys running, rock music, science fiction and paella.

Research Interest

Roberto research interests are in the area of nano-engineered advanced composites and nanocomposites. His current research focuses on manufacturing of carbon nanotubes (especially continuously on any kind of substrate), nano-engineered composites and their applications (mechanical, functional, non destructive evaluation).
