Roger D. Applegate, Certified Wildlife Biologist, Certified Senior Ecologist. Roger Applegate has an MS degree in Ecology from the University of Illinois. He has worked professionally in wildlife ecology for ~40 years.  He is presently pursuing a PhD in Environmental Biology at Tennessee Tech University in Cookeville, TN, and works as a Wildlife Population Biologist for the Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency. He is also employed as an adjunct biology instructor at Nashville State Community College and is an Adjunct Assistant Professor of Wildlife Management at the University of Tennessee, Knoxville. Roger serves as an Associate Editor for The Wildlife Society Bulletin and is a member of the Editorial Board of Southeastern Naturalist.He enjoys reviewing books and writing reviews of them.  His professional memberships include The Wildlife Society, American Society of Mammalogists, Wildlife Disease Association, Sigma Xi, Ecological Society of America, and the Natural Areas Association.

Research Interest

Research interests include avian and small mammal population dynamics, avian genetics, and avian physiology including nutrition.  He is also actively involved in wildlife disease, vegetation ecology (grassland and forest), and studies of attitudes and opinions of citizens relating to wildlife issues such as hunting and management.
