Dr. Samson Jamesdaniel is a Research Assistant Professor in the department of Communicative Disorders and Sciences at the State University of New York, Buffalo, NY, USA. He completed his Ph.D in physiology at the University of Madras, India, after obtaining a master’s degree (M.D) in alternative medicine. He did his postdoctoral training in auditory neuroscience and proteomics. He has so far published nearly 17 articles in reputed journals and serves as reviewer for several renowned journals and funding agencies. He employs a contemporary proteomic approach to investigate redox sensitive protein modifications and their signaling in ototoxicity.Specifically, he is interested in elucidating the protein signaling pathways associated with protein nitration and S-nitrosylation, in both central as well as peripheral auditory system, and evaluates their potential significance in mediating drug-induced, age-related and noise-induced hearing loss.
Dr. Samson's research is primarily focused on elucidating the role of redox sensitive protein modifications in regulating apoptosis and cell death, as proteins determine the functional state of the cell, especially by their posttranslational modifications.
