Biography

Dr. Epackachi earned his Ph.D. in Structural and Earthquake Engineering from the University at Buffalo, the State University of New York (2014). He holds a M.S. in Structural Engineering (University of Tehran 2007) and a B.S. in Civil Engineering (University of Tehran 2004). After PhD graduation, Dr. Epackachi continued his research on SC and RC walls as a Postdoctoral Research Associate at the University at Buffalo. Dr. Epackachi is currently a Teaching Assistant Professor in the Department of Civil, Structural and Environmental Engineering at The University at Buffalo.

In his PhD program, Dr. Epackachi was involved in a research project on the seismic assessment of steel-plate concrete (SC) composite shear walls including comprehensive analytical, experimental, and numerical evaluations of SC Structures. In his postdoctoral program, Dr. Epackachi initiated a set of scientific research projects such as parametric study, sensitivity analysis and macro modeling of SC walls, development of fragility functions for SC walls, and cyclic analysis of squat reinforced concrete shear walls. In addition to his scientific experiences, Dr. Epackachi has been involved in numerous professional engineering projects for a period of 6 years such as seismic evaluation, retrofitting, and rehabilitation execution of a 56-story tower building. Dr. Epackachi was a member of a research group for the preparation of the Iranian national code for one- or two-family dwelling and a member of the structural engineering revision group for preparation of the Iranian national seismic provision for design of steel structures.

Research Interest

Dr. Epackachi’s research focuses on the analysis, design, and testing of steel-plate concrete composite shear walls and reinforced concrete shear walls, finite element and simplified modeling of structures, seismic performance evaluation and rehabilitation of structures, and experimental and analytical research on adhesive bonded anchor systems.
