Dr. Stanley F. Fernandez is an Assistant Professor of Medicine at the University at Buffalo. He completed his undergraduate and medical school training at the University of the Philippines and obtained his PhD in pharmacology and toxicology from the University at Buffalo. Subsequently he completed his Internal medicine residency and Cardiology fellowship training at the same institution. In 2010 he joined the faculty of the Department of Medicine at the University at Buffalo. 
He is actively involved in patient care, translational research and in mentoring residents and fellows. His clinical interests are in preventive cardiology with emphasis on resistant hypertension and complex dyslipidemia, as well as in advanced cardiac imaging. His earlier work has focused on understanding the homeostatic interaction of renin-angiotensin and sympathetic nervous system as it relate to hypertension. He was involved in several clinical hypertension trials. His current research is focused on three broad categories: (1) understanding the mechanism and effects of sympathetic denervation in hibernating myocardium (2) understanding inflammatory mechanisms of coronary artery disease and (3) in-vivo mouse modeling of Timothy Syndrome.
