Biography

Dr. Steven Batterman received his B.C.E. from the Cooper Union School of Engineering, New York in 1959 and continued his education at Brown University in Providence, RI where he received his M.Sc. Engineering in June 1961 and his PhD Engineering in June 1964. From 1964 to 1997, Dr. Batterman was a continuous, fulltime faculty member at the University of Pennsylvania, Philadelphia, PA where he served as a professor in the School of Engineering and Applied Science Department of Mechanical Engineering and Applied Mechanics, Department of Bioengineering and in the School of Medicine 19721997, Department of Orthopaedic Surgery. In 1997, after 33 years of service, Dr. Batterman retired as a Professor Emeritus of Bioengineering Biomechanics and a Professor Emeritus of Bioengineering in Orthopaedic Surgery. Dr. Batterman was the first engineer in the world to be elected President of the American Academy of Forensic Sciences.

Forensic Biomechanics, Mechanics of Injury, Stress Analysis and Solid Mechanics of logical Systems, Bioengineering Design.
