Dr. Suraj Singh Senjam (MBBS, MD Community Medicine) is currently working as faculty in Community Ophthalmology Department, Dr. Rajendra Prasad Centre for Ophthalmic Sciences, AIIMS New Delhi. He has received Ford Foundation Indian Association Social Preventive Medicine (IASPM) Epidemiological Research Grant in 2008 at Puduchery IASPM National Conference and also received an award on scientific poster presentation at Asia-ARVO 2014, New Delhi. He has teaching experienced in various public health subjects viz. epidemiology, epidemiology of ocular diseases, Research methodology, Health management, Biostatistics, Health Promotion, Preventive ophthalmology, Primary eye health, Public health problems pertaining to eye health. He is reviewer of the BMC public Health, Journal of Medical Society, Indian Journal of Community Health. He has chaired few national and international ophthalmological conferences inclusive of community ophthalmology and also delivered many invited lecture in the context of community eye health. Dr. Suraj Singh Senjam has very keen interest in community based research related to public health problems. He is a supervisor for many National wide ocular health surveys. Dr. Suraj Singh Senjam is currently Principal investigator/Co Principal Investigator/co-investigators of eight research/services based project including AIIMS intramural and Christoffel Blind Mission funded projects and co-guide of two PhD students in Community ophthalmology. Dr. Suraj Singh Senjam has written many chapters/booklets on salutogenesis and health promotion. He has various research publications on this topic as well as preventive ophthalmology to his credit. He is life member of Indian association of public health, Indian association preventive medicine, association of Community Ophthalmology, All India ophthalmological Society.
His area of interest for work and research are epidemiology, health promotion, salutogenesis qualitative research, planning of community eye health, eye health care delivery system, and survey methodology in preventive ophthalmology, refractive error, school vision screening, low vision and rehabilitation services, and outreach eye care services including mega eye camp, services implementation, monitoring and evaluation. He is also a technical assistance to National Programme for Control Blindness, Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, Govt. of India.
