Biography

He is currently an Associate Professor of Department of Health Promotion Science in the Tokyo Metropolitan University, Japan. He received a Ph.D. in Psychology from the Tohoku University (Sendai, Japan) in 2001. He have received research training experience as a Postdoctoral Fellowship at Department of Kinesiology in the University of Waterloo, Canada from 2004 to 2006 (Supervisor: Dr. Aftab E. Patla). He primarily interested in the visuomotor control of adaptive locomotor behavior. He mainly investigate the behavior of walking through narrow apertures created by pedestrians or obstacles. He believe that his research provides insights into how our brain processes sensory information regarding the spatial relationship between the environment (i.e., an aperture) and the body and selects the appropriate and energetically efficient behavior to avoid collisions.

Research Interest
