He is currently a visiting assistant professor (organic chemistry) at Bard College, Annadale on Hudson, NY. He completed my BS/MS integrated in Chemistry from Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Bombay, India in the year 2002. He joined Iowa State University to pursue a doctoral degree in organic chemistry under the guidance of Professor Richard C. Larock. During his Ph.D. he worked on palladium migration, electrophilic cyclization for the synthesis of heterocylic compounds and cationic poylmerization. Thereafter, he joined NewLink Genetics as a post-doctoral fellow where he worked on development and synthesis of small-molecule inhibitors for tryptophan catabolizing enzyme, indoleamine 2,3-dioxygenase (IDO) and its structure and activity relationship (SAR). IDO inhibitors may offer a drug-based strategy to more effectively attack systemic cancer. His keen interest in academia motivated him to join Northwestern University in the upcoming area of the synthesis of metal-organic frameworks and porous organic frameworks for hydrogen storage, heterogeneous catalysis and heavy metal separation.

Research Interest

Development of new synthetic methods and their application toward the synthesis of novel materials and small molecules of biological interest, methodology development, heterocyclic chemistry. Medicinal chemistry, polymer chemistry, design and synthesis of porous organic polymers (POPs) and metal organic frameworks (MOFs).
