Biography

Thomas L. Selby (Tom) entered the United States Marine Corps in 1986 just after finishing high school in Doylestown OH. He spent 4 years in active duty in the Far East before returning stateside to finish his active duty service as a marksmanship instructor. Following his military service he earned his B.S. (magna cum laude) in Chemistry in 1994 at the University of Akron while carrying out research with Chrys Wesdemiotis. Tom did his graduate work with Ming-Daw Tsai at The Ohio State University and finished his Ph.D. in 1999. His thesis focused on structure-function studies of the tumor suppressor proteins p16-INK4 and p15. His post-doctoral work was performed with Ray Stevens at the Scripps Research Institute and focused on x-ray crystallographic studies of axon-guidance proteins and high-throughput crystallographic technologies. Tom is currently at Bucknell University and works in the area of structure-function relationships of signaling proteases and inositol cleaving enzymes.
