Wolfram Weckwerth is Professor and Chair of the Department of Molecular Systems Biology at the University of Vienna (Austria). Having obtained his academic degrees from the Technical University of Berlin (Germany), he moved to the Max-Planck-Institute of Molecular Plant Physiology in Potsdam (Germany), where he pioneeredmetabolomicand proteomic methods and integrated metabolic modelling approaches into a systems biology framework. He took over a position as head of a research lab in the german FORSYS systems biology initiative in 2006. In 2008 he became full professorat the University of Vienna and founded the Department of Molecular Systems Biology.
