Biography

Dr. Lu is Assistant Professor of Cancer Biology at The University of Texas M. D. Anderson Cancer Center. Research in Dr. Lu’s laboratory has been focused on the identification of key regulators in the DNA damage response and repair pathways. He is the principle investigator in a number of research grants from the National Institutes of Health (R01, R03, P20), American Cancer Society (ACS Research Scholar Grant), American Federation for Aging Research, AT Children’s Project and University of Texas Stars Plus award.  Dr. He has been active in professional activities. He has served as a member of review panels for DOD Breast Cancer Idea Award, Cancer Research UK, UK Medical Research Council, Bankhead-Coley Cancer Research Program and James & Esther King Biomedical Research Program. He is Associate Editor for American Journal of Cancer Research and is in editorial board for Frontiers in Pharmacotherapy of Inflammation. Dr. Lu has been served as a reviewer for more than 20 biomedical journals. Before joining MD Anderson Cancer Center, Dr. Lu was an assistant professor of Biology and a target PI of South Carolina Colon Cancer Center at the University of South Carolina-Columbia from 2007 to 2010, and a Research Assistant Professor at Baylor College of Medicine. Dr. Lu received his Ph.D. in 1998 from Chinese Academy of Sciences and completed his postdoctoral training in 2003 at Baylor College of Medicine.
