Biography

Dr. Yiqiang Zhang is Staff Scientist at the Functional Genomics Core and Department of Molecular Medicine, City of Hope and a Research Scientist and Instructor of Medicine at the University of Washington. His primary research interests include: stem cell biology and regenerative medicine, functional genomics and epigenetic regulation of cardiac and diabetic diseases, cell cycle regulation, electrophysiology and ion channel pathology. He holds a PhD in Biomedical Sciences from the University of Montreal, Canada [2006] and a M.Sc. in Physiology/Pharmacology from Sun Yat-Sen University, Guangzhou [1998]. After his fruitful doctoral studies on diabetic cardiomyopathy and arrhythmias, he pursued his postdoctoral training on cardiac stem cells in Johns Hopkins Medicine [2006-2007] and then in Cedars-Sinai Medical Center [2008-2010]. He received doctoral and postdoctoral awards from the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Canada [2003-2008], and his studies have been well-recognized and awarded by multiple organizations such as International Society for Heart Research, Keystone Symposia, FRSQ.

Research Interest

Stem cell biology and regenerative medicine, functional genomics and epigenetic regulation of cardiac and diabetic diseases, cell cycle regulation, electrophysiology, arrhythmias and ion channel pathology.
