Biography

Dr Gopal Dixit is having 25+ years experience as a Professor of Botany and Environmental Sciences, and as a mentor to both Under Graduate and Post Graduate students. He is actively engaged in research in various disciplines of Life Sciences viz. Plant Pathology, Physiology, Biochemistry, Ecology, Environmental Sciences along with Ethnobotany.He is heading the department of Botany and centre of research in Ethnobotany. He is also chairing International Board of Ethnomedicobotany of The World Academy of Medical Sciences (WAMS) to look after all the activities related to ethnic herbal medical practices in the welfare of living beings. His research contribution is evidenced by more than 50 published research papers in peer reviewed, indexed journals of national and international repute and attended many conferences, Seminars, Symposia etc. Also volunteered as an Associate Editor, Editorial board member and reviewer in various research journals. His major research activities includes: (A) Ferti- irrigation from Fertilizer factory liquid waste to measure its positive and (B) Non- Chemical practices for the management of root-knot nematodes. (C) Role of certain Biochemicals like Carbohydrates, Proteins, Amino Acids, and Phenols in the control of root-knot disease caused by Meloidogyne incognita in vegetable crop plants. For the conservation of traditional knowledge from extinction, I am doing compilation of usage of plants in Contact/ Touch Therapies by different ethical and rural people of Indo- Nepal sub Himalayan terai region of Pilibhit Tiger Reserve (PTR) and looking for collaboration.
