Prof. Woo is a Professor in the Department of Chemical Engineering at Pukyong National University in Korea, where he has taught since 1992. He received his B.S. degree (Inha University, Korea), (KAIST, Korea), and Ph.D. degree (POSTECH, Korea) all in Chemical Engineering and was a post-doctoral fellow at the University of California at Berkeley (1995-1996). In 2003 he was a visiting professor at the Virginia Tech. Prof. Woo is interested in heterogeneous catalysis and chemical reaction engineering. He has been involved in studies of heterogeneous catalysts for the desulfurization from gaseous and liquid fuels, environmental catalysis, bioenergy and bio-chemicals production from biomass, hydrogen production by the steam reforming of hydrocarbon sources, and nanostructured catalytic materials production, etc. Woo is a general director of Aquatic Biomass Research Center, a president of the Korean Society of Clean Technology and also a fellowship of National Academic Engineering of Korea.
