Biography | ||
Professor Emeritus Ian Evans obtained his PhD at the Institute of Psychiatry (Maudsley Hospital), King’s College, London in 1970. His first academic position was at the University of Hawaii, followed by an appointment as Director of Clinical Training at the State University of New York, Binghamton. He later moved to New Zealand and was for some years Head of the School of Psychology at Massey University, before retiring back in Honolulu, Hawaii. He is a Fellow of the American Psychological Association (APA) and the Association for Psychological Science (APS). He is also a Fellow of the Royal Society of New Zealand. |

Research Interest | ||
Ian has been interested in the theory and practice of behavior therapy. His more recent work concerns the emotional development of children in school, family, and community (cultural) contexts. He is especially interested in children’s perceptions of fairness, in restorative discipline in schools, and support for people with severe disabilities, including autism, who exhibit challenging behavior. |
