Biography

Dr. James J. Chen received a Ph.D. degree in Statistics from Iowa State University in 1978. In August 1983 Dr. Chen joined the National Center for Toxicological Research, U.S. Food and Drug Administration (USFDA), as a Senior Staff Fellow. Currently, Dr. Chen is a Senior Biomedical Researcher in the Division of Personalized Nutrition and Medicine and Adjunct Professor in the Department of Biostatistics, University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences, and Adjunct Professor in the Department of Public Health, China Medical University, Taiwan.

Research Interest

Dr. Chen’s main research interests are 1) statistical modeling for quantitative risk assessment, and 2) statistical methodology development for the analysis of carcinogenesis, mutagenesis, developmental toxicological experiments and environmental mixtures. Since 2000, Dr. Chen has been involved in developing statistical methods for microarray gene expression research.
