Biography

Dr. Roshan M. Borkar is a Postdoctoral Fellow, Department of Pharmaceutical Sciences, Albany College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences, Albany, New York, USA. Since November 2016, he has been working on pharmacokinetic [PK] and pharmacodynamics [PD] approach to implementing a systems-based drug development pipeline that is built upon mechanistic models of drug action that may better explain why drugs fail or succeed. Systems-based drug development strategy will apply on primary brain tumours or glioblastoma multiforme and in drug discovery and development. This hypothesis is systems-based drug development will efficiently identify highly active drug candidates for brain tumours and provide a translational bridge between preclinical and clinical studies. Prior to moving to Albany College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences, He earned his Ph.D. in Pharmaceutical Sciences from National Centre for Mass Spectrometry at CSIR-Indian Institute of Chemical Technology (IICT), Hyderabad, India. His research included finding out the potential interactions of the pharmaceutical drug with herbal medicine by using liquid chromatography-mass spectrometry along with molecular biology. In brief, Interaction of herb and/or its metabolites with drugs by CYPs enzymes and transporters. He has also experience in LC-MS/MS based bio analytical method development for molecular biology and drug metabolites identification studies. He also worked on cardiovascular and diabetic patient’s samples, in which he quantified targeted biomarkers viz. Vitamin D and its metabolites, arachidonic acid and its metabolites by LC-MS/MS. He has contributed to twenty-nine research publications in highly reputed international journals.
