Biography

Dr. Zheng received his Ph.D. degree in Biological Chemistry and Molecular Pharmacology from Harvard University in 1993, and postdoctoral training at Howard Hughes Medical Institute and the Department of Chemistry and Chemical Biology at Harvard University. He is a pioneer in mTOR signaling and an expert in nutrient signaling, and cancer growth, metabolism and targeted therapy, especially malignancies in the digestive system. He has been on faculty of Washington University and Rutgers University. He is currently Professor of Pharmacology, Chief of Division of Cancer Pharmacology, and Co-Leader of Program in Cancer Pharmacology of NCI-designated Comprehensive Cancer Center at Rutgers University. Dr. Zheng has extensively published in leading peer-reviewed scientific journals including Nature, Cell, Cancer Cell, Molecular Cell, PNAS, EMBO, Curr Biol, and Nature Communications. Dr. Zheng’s research has been continuously funded by National Institutes of Health for the past 18 years.

Research Interest

Nutrient signaling; regulation of cell growth and metabolism; cancer (especially digestive track malignancies such as colorectal and liver cancers); targeted cancer therapy.
