Biography

Dr. Dario Siniscalco is Research Associate for the Department of Experimental Medicine of the Second University of Naples (SUN), Italy. He graduated in Chemistry from the University of Naples “Federico II” in 2000 and received his Ph.D. in Pharmacological Sciences from SUN in 2004. He completed his neuropathology fellowship at University of Alabama at Birmingham, USA before joining the Second University of Naples staff in 2006. He is registered member of the following scientific societies: Order of the Chemists of Campania, National Council for Chemistry, Stem Cell Research Italy, International Association of Neurorestoratology, and European Association for Chemical and Molecular Sciences, Italian Pharmacological Society, Cell Death Research Group - University of Alabama at Birmingham, USA.

In 2010, in collaboration with Dr. Nicola Antonucci, he founded a research group to study cellular and molecular changes in autism spectrum disorders. Author or co-author of 54 scientific peer-reviewed papers and 9 book chapters. His works received 723 citations so far. Presented 95 communications/abstracts to national and international conferences. He is serving as an editorial board member and reviewer of more than 40 international journals. His main research interests: gene expression and molecular regulation in autism spectrum disorders; use of stem cells as therapeutic tool in autism; role of macrophage activation in autism. Other research interests: stem cells therapy for the neuronal recovery; studying of neuronal apoptosis. Role of bcl-2 family, caspases, and cell cycle regulator genes.

Osteoclastic cell activation. Role of metabotropic glutamate receptors in the neuropathic pain pathway. Role of ozone in neuropathic pain treatment. Biography

Dr. Rahbar is professor of Epidemiology and Biostatistics at the University of Texas School of Public Health and serves as Director, Biostatistics, Epidemiology and Research Design (BERD) component of the Center for Clinical and Translational Sciences (CCTS) at the University of Texas Health Science Center at Houston (UTHealth). With funding from NICHD/FIC, Dr. Rahbar is investigating the role of five heavy metals (lead, mercury, arsenic, cadmium, manganese) and their potential interaction with the GST gene in relation to autism in Jamaica. Since May 2004, Dr. Rahbar collaborated with colleagues at the CDC in assessing the prevalence of ASD in 16 US study sites (18 States), as part of the CDC-funded Autism and Developmental Disabilities Monitoring Network (ADDM). In addition, he collaborated with the CDC and the CADDRE sites (also known as SEED) investigators in planning and implementing a multi-site case-cohort study to identify risk factors for ASD in the US.
