Biography

Dr. N. Suganuma graduated Nagoya University School of Medicine and obtained M.D. in 1978. After performing internship, he belonged to Nagoya University as a staff of Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology. Ph.D. was given from Nagoya University for a research concerning prolactin gene expression in placenta. He studied structure-function relationship of gonadotropins at Washington University, USA as a postdoctoral fellow of Forgatty Fellowship from NIH during 1987-1989. This experimental technics were applied to analyze LH variant genome clinically. He became Associate Professor of the department in 1993, and his group succeeded the Japanese first pregnancy and delivery using ICSI with testicular sperm in 1994. He got Professor position in Kyoto University in 2005, and is functioning director or delegate of Reproductive Medicine, Endocrinology, Maternity and so on of Japanese Societies. Uterus transplantation (UTx) research toward clinical application is being performed by his collaborators, and he is playing President of Japan Society for UTx and Vice President of International Society for UTx.
