He has written more than three hundred and fifty chapters in books, and has authored and edited 25 books, some of which became cornerstones in science and clinical practice, such as "The Mosaic of Autoimmunity", "Infections and Autoimmunity" and the textbook "Autoantibodies" and "Diagnostic criteria of autoimmune diseases", all of which were published by Elsevier and sold by the thousands. He is on the editorial board of 43 journals in the field of rheumatology and autoimmunity and is the founder and the editor of the IMAJ (Israel Medical Association Journal) the representative journal of science and medicine in the English language in Israel, and also is the founder and Editor of the "Autoimmunity Reviews" (Elsevier) (Impact factor 6.6) and Co-Editor of "Journal of Autoimmunity"  (Impact factor 7.4). For the last twenty years Dr. Shoenfeld has been the Editor of "Harefuah" – The Israel journal in medicine (Hebrew) and  he has edited the Israel Medical Encyclopedia (10 volumes, 5000 items). He had organized over 20 international congresses in autoimmunity.

T-Cell Tolerance and Memory Section LIG
National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases (NIAID)

Polly Matzinger has worked as a bartender, carpenter, jazz musician, playboy bunny, and dog trainer. She is currently chief of the ghost lab and the section on T-Cell Tolerance and Memory. She worried  for years that the dominant model of immunity does not explain a wealth of accumulated data and suggested an alternative, the Danger model, which suggests that the  immune system is far less concerned with things that are foreign than with those that do damage. This model, whose two major tenets z most  of what the immune  system seems to do right, as well as most of what it appears to do wrong, covering  areas as transplantation, autoimmunity, and the   immunobiology of tumors. The model has been the subject of a BBC "horizon" film and was featured in three other films about immunity, as well as countless articles in both the scientific and the lay press. In 2013, her section was assigned to the Laboratory of Immunogenetics.
1986: Köln Film Festival Award for Special Excellence in Educational Films, for Das Immunsystem (German translation of Immunity: the inside story; also translated into French, Japanese, Spanish)
1996: Honorary lifetime member of the Scandinavian Society of Immunology
2002: Listed as one of The 50 Most Important Women in Science by Discover magazine, November 2002
2003: Honorary Doctorate from the Limburg’s Universitaire Centrum, Belgium
2008: Listed in Thompson’s “Highly Cited”
2009: The Fearless Scientist Award yearly scholarship given in honor of Polly Matzinger to a student at the University of Rhode Island

University of Montpellier

Marie-Paule Lefranc is Professor of Immunogenetics and Immunology, at the University of Montpellier, and Head of the Laboratoire d\ImmunoGénétique Moléculaire (LIGM) at CNRS, Institute of Human Genetics, Montpellier, France, since 1982.
She is also Honorary Senior member of the University Institute of France, Chair of Immunogenetics and Immunoinformatics. She has authored over 300 scientific publications in international journals on the molecular immunogenetics of immunoglobulins, T cell receptors, antibody  engineering, and in human genetics and immunoinformatics. Two of her major contributions are, firstly, the finding of large chromosomal deletions including several immunoglobulin genes accounting for the simultaneous
absence of certain isotypes and allowing the overall ordering of the human immunoglobulin constant genes and, secondly, the full characterization of the human T cell receptor gamma locus, for which she received the ROSEN prize of Cancerology in 1988.
She is director of IMGT®, the international ImMunoGeneTics information system®,, that she founded in 1989, at Montpellier. She has defined the IMGT Scientific chart rules and IMGT-ONTOLOGY concepts, which are the foundations of IMGT® which has become the global reference in immunogenetics and immunoinformatics.
