Wei Deng Editor-in-Chief Wei Deng Associate Researcher Beijing Research Center for Information Technology in Agriculture China

Biography

Wei Deng, is an associate research professor in National Engineering Research Center for Information Technology in Agriculture (NERCITA), China. The main Research Field is Precision Chemical Application (PCA). Research interests are precision chemical application, precision agriculture, variable-rate spray, target detection, soft computing, and spectral and image data analysis. A resource-saving and environment-friendly world is needed for all of us. A kind of PWM-based continuous variable spray equipment was built up during my research for Ph.D degree. The spray characteristics among PWM-based continuous, PWM-based intermittent, and pressure-based variable spray were compared, in the aspects of spray distribution pattern, spray angle, spray droplet size, spray velocity, spray specific energy, and kinetic energy median diameter so as to provide some foundation to apply these technique in various and suitable conditions of chemical application. During the research work as a post-doctor in China Agricultural University, I did some research on spectral detection technology and Spectroscopy analysis for targeting spray. Two main parts of PCA have been involved in my research work. And I am going to do more and deeper research work on PCA.

Francisco Pedrero Salcedo Editor-in-Chief  Francisco Pedrero Salcedo Researcher Center for Edaphology and Applied Biology of Segura Spain

Biography

I´m Dr. Agriculture Engineer with a Ph.D degree on “sustainable reclaimed water use in agriculture” with Thesis Award from Technical University of Cartagena and a Master Degree on Planning and Management of Water Resources. During my research period, I have writen international SCI papers (30), and many communications to national and international congresses (>28). During my research career, I have been working at University of California (USA), University of Beira Interior (Portugal) and Technical University of Denmark (DTU). About precision irrigation and water reuse in agriculture, I have demonstrated the transfer of knowledge to the private and public sectors, participating in several international projects (10) and private projects with companies (10). In parallel, during the last years, I got educational experience as professor in different courses (8) related with precision irrigation and water reuse in agriculture. Also I was supervisor on several University Master’s degree and Final Projects (8). I have demonstrated a multidisciplinary scientific work on this field, collaborating with other Institutions, Departments and companies. I worked as postdoc on the University of Bari on the Dipartimento di Scienze Agro Ambientali e Territoriali (DiSAAT), on the framework of the European project “Low-cost water desalination and sensor technology compact” (DESERT). I´m the Technical Director of “The IWA Regional Conference on Water Reuse and Salinity Management (IWARESA)” and the Main Coordinator of the Mediterranean network Youth for Water (MedYWat) funded by Center Mediterranean Integration (CMI). Actually, i´m researcher on the Irrigation Department at CEBAS-CSIC (Murcia,Spain), where I coordinate a research project.
