Biography

Dr Keiji Suzuki has been Professor of Pediatrics at Tokai University and Director of Newborn Services at Center for Maternal, Fetal and Neonatal Medicine, Tokai University Hospital since 8/2011. He graduated from Faculty of Medicine, Tokyo University in 1982 and has been working as a pediatrician (specialized in neonatology) for 30 years. During his career, he has been working and studying in various fields of neonatology, especially focusing on pulmonology. He did his PhD at Faculty of Medicine, Nursing and Health Sciences, Monash University, Australia on a study of pulmonary vascular development in lung hypoplasia. His main interest is respiratory physiology of the newborn as well as lung development and adaptation in the fetal and neonatal period. Recently, his research extends and covers to fetal origins of health and disease of respiratory system as well as cardiovascular, renal and other organ systems. He loves a variety of outdoor activities, including mountaineering and snowboarding.
