Biography

Dr. Deli Gao is as chair professor working for Department of Petroleum Engineering in China University of Petroleum-Beijing (CUPB),China.He is a principal investigator of the Creative Research Group in critical well engineering for oil & gas issued by the National Natural Science Foundation of China, and director of Key Laboratory of Petroleum Engineering issued by the Ministry of Education,China; He is also chairman of Academic Board of the CUPB, a standing director of Chinese Petroleum Society and a member of Chinese Academy of Sciences. He has 30 years’ research and teaching experience in the field of petroleum engineering. He is committed to research on down-hole mechanics and control engineering for oil & gas, and has accomplished more than 30 research projects sponsored by the national scientific and technological funds and the leading petroleum and petrochemical corporations, such as CNPC, CNOOC, SINOPEC and so on. He has already obtained 29 items of invention patents and published 6 monographs and a lot of technical papers in which there are more than 200 papers indexed by SCI or EI. He is also members of editorial boards for more than 10 journals, such as Science Bulletin, JNGSE, Petroleum Science, Computer Modeling in Engineering & Science, Petroleum Exploration and Development, ACTA PETROLEI SINICA and so on.

Petroleum engineering; complex well engineering; drilling and completion for oil & gas; directional or horizontal drilling; offshore or deepwater drilling; down-hole mechanics including tubular mechanics, rock mechanics and so on; down-hole measurements and control engineering.

Biography

Arthur Ragauskas held the first Fulbright Chair in Alternative Energy and is a Fellow of the International Academy of Wood Science and TAPPI His research program at Georgia Institute of Technology is seeking to understand and exploit innovative sustainable bioresources This multifaceted program is targeted to develop new and improved applications for nature’s premiere renewable biopolymers for biomaterials biofuels biopower and biobased chemicals His research program is sponsored by NSF USDA DOE GA Traditional Industry Program a consortium of industry partners and several fellowship programs His Fulbright sponsored activities at Chalmers University of Technology Sweden were focused on the forest biorefinery and new biofuel conversion technologies for lignocellulosics Currently Dr Ragauskas manages a research group of thirty graduate students postdoctoral research fellows a research scientist and visiting scientists He has collaborative research projects with several GA Tech faculty and is a program leader for a GA Tech Focused Research Program in Biofuels BioPower and Biomaterials In addition he is the GA Tech team leader for Biological Energy Science Center BESC research efforts theme leader for the GA Tech Imperial College London and Oak Ridge National Laboratory AtlanTICC Alliance in Biomass to BioFuels BioProducts and BioPower program and team leader for an industrial consortium program titled Fiber Modification Fiber Fiber Bonding His students have won several awards including the ACS graduate research award Ragauskas has published 220 papers patents and conference proceedings Ragauskas is an Associate Editor for Petroleum Environmental Biotechnology Biofuels Bioproducts and Biorefining Biofuels BioEnergy Research Industrial Biotechnology Taiwan Journal of Forest Service Industrial Biotechnology Holzforschung Journal of Biobased Materials and Bioenergy Journal of Petroleum Technology and Alternative Fuels The Open Biotechnology Journal and J Wood Chemistry and Technology He is an editorial board member of Sustainability and Journal of Chemical Technology and Biotechnology and a reader for Nature Ragauskas has served on several advisory boards and review panels including Austrian Science Fund European Commission Research Directorate National Science Academy J Paul Getty Trust NSF USDA DOE ARAPE NSERC BARD FIRST TAPPI Research Management Committee Netherlands Organization for Scientific Research NWO Swedish Foundation for Strategic Research Swedish VINN Excellence Center Swedish Knowledge Foundation VTT Technical Research Centre of Finland ERA Chemistry Swiss National Science Foundation Finnish Academy of Science Norway Research Council The Technology Foundation STW and Singapore Agency for Science Technology and Research Dr Ragauskas has been an invited visiting professor at Universidade da Beira Interior Portugal Chalmers University of Technology Sweden Royal Institute of Technology STFi Stockholm Sweden and South China University of Technology China

 
Research Interest

Development of translational green chemistry for the sustainable conversion of bioresources to biofuels, biopower, biobased materials and chemicals. As such, Ragauskas’ core belief is that a professor can only be as successful as the students he educates, mentors and graduates. As such, Ragauskas academic mission has been, and remains, the cornerstone of his career objectives. Biography

Professor Kumta earned his Bachelor of Technology with Honors in metallurgical engineering from the Indian Institute of Technology, Bombay, India in 1984. This was followed by MS and PhD degrees in materials science and engineering from the University of Arizona in 1987 and 1990, respectively. He joined the Department of Materials Science and Engineering at Carnegie Mellon University following his graduation in 1990 as an Assistant Professor and was promoted to Full Professor with tenure in 1999. He also held joint faculty appointment in the Biomedical Engineering Department. He joined the University of Pittsburgh in 2007. Professor Kumta is the author and co-author of more than 150 refereed journal publications and has given more than 200 conference presentations with more than 66 invited presentations. He was also the recipient of the Research Initiation Award from the National Science Foundation in 1993 and has been continuously listed in Who’s Who in Science and Engineering, Who’s Who in America, Who’s Who in the World and Who’s Who in American Education since 1999. He was the founding organizer of the first symposium on “Electrochemically Active Materials for Energy Storage and Devices” for the Annual Meeting of the American Ceramic Society held in Indianapolis in 1995, and has been actively involved in its organization and execution to date. He is currently the Editor-in-Chief of Materials Science and Engineering, B, Solid-State Materials for Advanced Technology, an International Journal by Elsevier Publications.
