Over-the-counter medications such as ibuprofen (Advil, Motrin IB, others) or naproxen sodium (Aleve, others) may provide short-term relief from pain associated with patellar tendinitis. A physical therapist may also recommend specific exercises and stretches to strengthen the muscles and tendons.
