Symptoms are swelling neck, breathing difficulty, steady wheezing & hacking voice. Treatment includes Surgery to remove the part of the thyroid gland, radioactive iodine to destroy any remaining thyroid tissue. TSH suppression therapy prevents any remaining cancer cells.
Ongoing Research is being done at Thyroid Cancer Centers. Thyroid cancer mortality rates for women and men in Finland have fallen by more than 93% and 90% respectively, while the number of new cases is 298 and the age-standardized incidence rates have risen considerably to 8.2.
