Pulmonary means lungs and edema means swelling. It is a condition which is caused by excess fluid accumulation. This fluid collects in the numerous air sacs in the lungs, which makes difficult to breathe. In most of the cases, heart problems are caused due to pulmonary edema. It develops suddenly, which is called as acute pulmonary edema, which 0020 is a medical emergency requiring immediate care.

Statistical analysis of pulmonary edema around France got the result as fifteen patients had an APE during pregnancy or in the immediate post-partum period during the study period (0.05%). The mean age was 28.6 years and the mean term of appearance was 31.2±3.1 weeks of amenorrhea. The diagnosis was made in 11 cases (73.3%) before delivery and in four during post-partum. The main etiology was preeclampsia (46.6%) followed by heart disease (26.7%), then tocolysis and overfilling (13.3%).
