Thyroid Cancer is a disease that you get when unusual cells start to develop in thyroid organ. It forms like a butterfly and is situated in the front of your neck. It makes hormones that controls & becomes active with the body work regularly.
Symptoms are swelling neck, breathing difficulty, steady wheezing & hacking voice. Treatment includes Surgery to remove the part of the thyroid gland, radioactive iodine to destroy any remaining thyroid tissue. TSH suppression therapy prevents any remaining cancer cells.
Ongoing Research is being done at Thyroid Cancer Centers. Incidence rate increased but mortality decreased in men and women. Annual cases increased five times and projections were 8,000 cases and 400 deaths. One-year overall and relative survivals were 92 and 94%, respectively. Five-year overall and relative survivals were 87 and 93%, respectively.
