  • Trachoma

    A chronic, contagious infection of the conjunctiva and cornea, characterized by the formation of granulations and scarring and caused by the bacterium Chlamydia trachomatis. The bacteria is essentially totally preventable and curable.The conjunctiva is a loose connective tissue that covers the surface of the eyeball and reflects back upon itself to form the inner layer of the eyelid. It is firmly adhered to the sclera at the limbus, where it meets the cornea. The accessory lacrimal glands along with goblet cells are contained within the conjunctiva and are responsible for keeping the eye lubricated.

  • Trachoma

    In the France, about 2120 cases of Trachoma are reported in humans each year. Almost 10% of the France population is infected with Trachoma an infectious disease caused by the bacterium Chlamydia trachomatis.Trachoma is simple to treat. However, it's highly contagious and the risk of re-infection is high. As people with trachoma tend to live in areas where the infection is widespread. The WHO is aiming to eliminate blinding trachoma by 2020, using a community-focused initiative called "SAFE".
