Many of the feeding- and energy metabolism-related functions of GALP. While the physiological mechanisms of GALPâs actions are gradually being elucidated, the nature of its receptor is yet to be clarified and remains a key to discovering the widespread actions of this neuropeptide. Recent studies have shown that GALP enhances energy metabolism. The rate of uptake of intravenous administered radioactively iodinated GALP (I-GALP) into the brains of mice was measured. I-GALP uptake into the olfactory bulb was very high, and was also elevated in the hypothalamus and hippocampus compared with other brain areas.
A journal is a periodical publication intended to further progress of science, usually by reporting new research. Most journals are highly specialized, although some of the oldest journals publish articles, reviews, editorials, short communications, letters, and scientific papers across a wide range of scientific fields. Journals contain articles that peer reviewed, in an attempt to ensure that articles meet the journal's standards of quality, and scientific validity. Each such journal article becomes part of the permanent scientific record.
