Social gerontology generally refers to the study of elderly people. Sometimes it also refers to the action of working with older people. Some of the categories are social work, demography, sociology, nursing, demography, social science discipline. Because issues of life span and life extension need numbers to quantify them, there is an overlap with demography. Those who study the demography of the human life span differ from those who study the social demographics of aging.
