    Introduction

    Glomerulonephritis is the inflammation of tiny filters in the kidneys. Glomeruli remove excess fluid, electrolytes and waste from your bloodstream and pass them into your urine. It can be acute. It is also known as glomerular disease.

    The symptoms depend on whether you have acute or chronic form. It also depends upon the cause of the disease. Pink or cola-colored urine from red blood cells in your urine (hematuria) Foamy urine due to excess protein (proteinuria) High blood pressure (hypertension) Fluid retention (edema) with swelling evident in your face, hands, feet and abdomen Fatigue from anemia or kidney failure.

    Treatment of the disease depends on the form of disease, the underlying cause of the disease and the type and severity of signs and symptoms. The goal of treatment is to protect the kidneys from further damage. Reported cure rates at 6 months after treatment with albendazole are >90% and after treatment with ivermectin range from 76–95.2%.
