    Definition: Hyperthyroidism is a condition in which thyroid glands performs excessive functional activity and produces too much of the hormone thyroxine. Hyperthyroidism, thus, accelerate body?s metabolic rate, cause enlargement of the thyroid gland, rapid heart rate, and high blood pressure.
