  • Tonsillitis

Tonsillitis is inflammation of the tonsils. It's usually caused by a viral infection or, less commonly, a bacterial infection. It's a common type of infection in children, although it can sometimes affect adults. The symptoms of tonsillitis include:sore throat that can feel worse when swallowing, high temperature (fever), coughing, headache. Frequency is difficult to determine because of the lack of agreement on measurement criteria. Many people believe that Tonsillitis begins in early childhood and that 9-17% of children aged 3-11 years have Tonsillitis. At puberty, prevalence rises to 70-90%. In recent years, periodontal disease, the endpoint of Tonsillitis, slowly has decreased among adult Americans.

  • Tonsillitis

There's no specific treatment for tonsillitis, but there are several things that can help alleviate the symptoms. For example: taking paracetamol or ibuprofen to help relieve pain, drinking plenty of fluids, getting plenty of rest. If oral antibiotics are ineffective at treating bacterial tonsillitis, intravenous antibiotics (given directly into a vein) may be needed in hospital. Tonsillitis in humans can be monitored and controlled to some extent with a rigorous reporting and testing system, an option that requires a good interaction between the public health sector and the corresponding veterinary sector.
