Fecal incontinence is one of the most psychologically and socially debilitating conditions in an otherwise healthy individual. It can lead to social isolation, loss of self-esteem and self-confidence, and depression. This article is devoted to the problem of fecal incontinence in the adult female patient.Fecal incontinence may be accompanied by other bowel problems, such as diarrhea, constipation, gas and bloating etc.
A number of tests are available to help pinpoint the cause of fecal incontinence:

FI is thought to be very common, but much under-reported due to embarrassment. One study reported a prevalence of 2.2% in the general population.
