Frostbite can be described as a medical condition where skin gets injured due to freezing or extreme cooling temperature.Frostbite is a condition where mostly the skin of fingers, ears, tissue far away from the heart gets affected easily.
Symptoms of frostbite include numbness, prickling feeling, cold skin, muscle stiffness, etc. In initial stages frostbite is termed as frostnip. At these stages skin doesn’t damage permanently and extreme conditions can be prevented by taking preventive measures.
According to Trinity College professor David Dickson, says the frost “remains to this day, the longest period of extreme cold in modern European history". The Great Irish Frost of 1740 killed almost one fifth of the population.
