    The non-polio enteroviruses and parechoviruses are responsible for a wide spectrum of diseases in persons of all ages, although infection and illness occurs most commonly in infants and young children. Non-polio enterovirus infections cause symptoms and signs such as sneezing, mouth blisters, and fever. Symptoms and signs of EV-D68 infection include rash, cough, and breathing problems.An epidemiological survey of non-polio enterovirus among families in Israel was conducted in the late summer of 2003.

    In an epidemiological survey of NPEV and HPeV types detected from stool and cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) samples from patients admitted to hospital in the period from 2007 through 2011 in Amsterdam, a total of 570 patients were found positive for a NPEV (n=319), HPeV (n=193), or both (n=33) by real-time RT-PCR in stool and/or CSF as described previously.The treatment for enterovirus infections is mainly supportive and designed to reduce the symptoms caused by the various enterovirus types. Non-polio enterovirus infections cause symptoms and signs such as sneezing, mouth blisters, and fever. Symptoms and signs of EV-D68 infection include rash, cough, and breathing problems.
