Thyroid Cancer is a disease that you get when unusual cells start to develop in thyroid organ. It forms like a butterfly and is situated in the front of your neck. It makes hormones that controls & becomes active with the body work regularly.
Symptoms are swelling neck, breathing difficulty, steady wheezing & hacking voice. Treatment includes Surgery to remove the part of the thyroid gland, radioactive iodine to destroy any remaining thyroid tissue. TSH suppression therapy prevents any remaining cancer cells.
Ongoing Research is being done at Thyroid Cancer Centers. The highest incidence rates 18 and 8 per 100,000 women, 6 and 3 per 100,000 men, respectively. Age-period-cohort models showed a strong period effect in both sexes (rate ratio is 2.5 in women and 2.3 in men), although incidence rates peaked at an earlier age in women (45-49 years) than men (65-69 years).
