    AHFV is a tick-borne flavivirus in Saudi Arabia and recently implicated in outbreaks of febrile illness associated with hemorrhagic and neurological manifestations. It was confirmed as a flavivirus by using a broadly reactive flavivirus monoclonal antibody, 4G2: this antibody reacts with dengue, yellow fever, and West Nile and Alkhurma viruses.

    After the incubation period, the disease presents initially with non-specific flu-like symptoms, including fever, anorexia, general malaise,diarrhea, and vomiting, neurologic, hemorrhagic.There is no standard specific treatment for the disease. Patients receive supportive therapy that balances the patient’s fluid and electrolytes, maintaining oxygen status and blood pressure.
