Thyroid Cancer is a disease that you get when unusual cells start to develop in thyroid organ. It forms like a butterfly and is situated in the front of your neck. It makes hormones that controls & becomes active with the body work regularly.
Symptoms are swelling neck, breathing difficulty, steady wheezing & hacking voice. Treatment includes Surgery to remove the part of the thyroid gland, radioactive iodine to destroy any remaining thyroid tissue. TSH suppression therapy prevents any remaining cancer cells.
Ongoing Research is being done at Thyroid Cancer Centers. Incidence rates for men and women gradually increases, the age-adjusted rates are 1.1 per 100,000 for men and 3.1 per 100,000 for women. The higher rates were observed in Hiroshima and Nagasaki cities i.e. male to female ratio was 1: 6.
