Tuberculosis is a bacterial infection caused by the species mycobacterium, hence it is also called as mycobacterium tuberculosis. The target organ affected is lungs. It is a contagious disease and transmits through air while the infected patient coughs and sneezes. TB can be remained in the body years together without showing any symptoms. The diagnosis involves tuberculin skin test. Recent studies have concluded that the patients with AIDS are highly prone to get tuberculosis.
