Individuals heterozygous at IL10-1082 have significantly increased occurrence of IBD, both ulcerative colitis and Crohn's disease (P<0.01). There was no difference in the prevalence of H. pylori infection between cases and controls. This study provides evidence that variation in IL10 is correlated with IBD occurrence in this Mexican population.
