Binge eating disorder is an overeating disorder, in which people consume large amounts of food uncontrolledly and doesn’t even feel like stopping. This disorder was mostly observed in adults, who overeat in any of the situations (eg. Guilt, depression, disgust, etc.) inorder to handle and manage the situation.
Signs and symptoms: This Binge eating disorder is characterized by behavioral and emotional symptoms which can be described as follows: Behavioral symptoms: • Eating more than required • Eating even after full • Eating continuously throughout the day with no particular time Emotional symptoms: • Over eating when stressed • Over eating when left alone
Treatment: There is no in particular medication for the treatment of this disorder. One should go for an advice from physicians, nutritionists, psychiatrists, psychologists. Of all these cognitive behavioral therapy is considered as the best effective treatment for the Binge eating disorder. Bariatric surgery is also considered
About 57% of the patients initially diagnosed with AN and 61% of those diagnosed with BN were fully recovered. AN binge/purge subtype (ANBP) demonstrated the most extended median survival time of all diagnostic subgroups (the point at which half of the group has reached full recovery).Diagnostic crossover was low. A younger age at detection predicted recovery at outcome for AN and BN. One patient (AN) died.
