     Typhoid fever, also known simply as typhoid, is a symptomatic bacterial infection due to Salmonella typhi. Diarrhea and vomiting are uncommon.Some people develop a skin rash with rose colored spots. In severe cases there may be confusion. Without treatment symptoms may last weeks or months. Typhoid fever is a type of enteric fever along with paratyphoid fever. In the year 2006, 57 cases of Typhoid fever were reported in Netherlands. The prevalence rate was 0.3%. Highest prevalence rate was reported in the years 2001 and 2003 that is 0.5%.

  • Typhoid Fever

     Fluids and  may be given by IV (into a vein). Or you may be asked to drink uncontaminated water with electrolyte packets. Antibiotics are given to kill the bacteria.
