Thyroid Cancer is a disease that you get when unusual cells start to develop in thyroid organ. It forms like a butterfly and is situated in the front of your neck. It makes hormones that controls & becomes active with the body work regularly.
Symptoms are swelling neck, breathing difficulty, steady wheezing & hacking voice. Treatment includes Surgery to remove the part of the thyroid gland, radioactive iodine to destroy any remaining thyroid tissue. TSH suppression therapy prevents any remaining cancer cells.
Ongoing Research is being done at Thyroid Cancer Centers. The vast majority of cancers in Norway, over 90% in men and 85% in women. A larger proportion of cancers are diagnosed in women than men at the ages of 25 to 49, while slightly over 1% of the cancer burden, an equal proportion in males and females, occurs in children and young adults.
