    Tench fever is a louse-borne disease caused by Bartonella quintana and observed originally in military populations during World Wars I and II. Symptoms are an acute, recurring febrile illness, occasionally with a rash. Diagnosis is by blood culture. Treatment is with amacrolide or doxycycline. The affected rate was 4.1% in female, and 3.2% in male in Norway. Bartonella to understand which factors are responsible for transmitting the bacteria to humans. Researchers are investigating how the bacteria replicates itself and the structure of the bacteria. Some people may be genetically susceptible to develop more severe symptoms than other people.
