The rapid development of the world in the era of globalization brings some changes in the structure of society, especially in the family institution. In Malaysia, the climate of the family institution is not immune from the changes. In the past, large families are able to create an effective support system, but now the trend in Malaysia more focused on family basis. According to estimates, in 2000 the types of families in Malaysia have been more focused on basic family type that is made up of mother, father and child. Basic family types represent over 70 percent of households in Peninsular Malaysia compared with 64 percent in 1991.

Both husband and wife work outside the home is a common scenario in the family foundation. Thus the problem of child care and the challenge of balancing the pressures in the workplace with regard to the family is a frequent problem. This situation led to the fragility of the family institution and invite abandonment of responsibility by the parents. This phenomenon contributes to the increase in the number of juvenile crimes in Malaysia. This scenario is a growing concern as the country relies on a group of teenagers who are the heir and leading to prosperity and the country’s leadership in the future. Parents are the people who should be respected by the children. The role of parents is very big in the construction of the family. Construction of a family walking on the implementation of obligations by both of them.
